It's the 13th of Nov. 2002 and our Winnebago is rolling, completely legal. It was one thing repairing it (thanks again Alex) it's another thing getting it through the MOT. Lots of greasy hands and lots of swearing (I kid you not). For those who haven't seen it, it's one of the classiest looking vehicles cruising the Northern hemisphere and the smell inside is of a mixture of stale beer, very cheap whiskey and the finest herbs known to mankind. We're on our way to Cardiff, the Barfly, soundcheck is at 5 pm, no sweat. 14th Nov. Cardiff The album Mistah Kurtz is out and we find a copy in a shop in Cardiff, good for the ego. Last night the set was pretty heavy with songs most songs off the new cd. Great to play these new songs live, they've been in our heads for more than a year now. We did Sado, Psycho, Morphine, Crime & P, Discipline and Aardman of Kurtz. Soundguy Jez knew his shit and did an excellent job. Afterwards we spoke to James who writes for the Cardiff student mag and he's gonna do a write up on us, which always helps. We wanna shift that fucking album into the millions. Behind the bar there was a rumour doing the round that all three of us are actually accountants.......... ...interesting, will my mum be finally proud of me? Gwasanaethau=Services We're on our way to the Solbar in Llanelli we're stopping for lunch in the Mumbles. Passing Port Talbot it is raining and we spot three rainbows at the same time. If you're just landing from Mars you best keep your helmet on. What are these rainbows doing over Port Talbot? Anyone who's been there will know what I mean. 15th Nov. Llanelli Played with "21 Against", great songs I liked a lot of their tunes. We're on stage after them and play for an hour which is brilliant. I knock my pint of beer over during the second tune and I'm skidding all over the show, good fun. The morning after I've got the weirdest muscle ache ever. After the show we're selling 7 shirts to really macho Welsh blokes but they all want girl-shirts. Fuck me(our girl-shirts have got BRUTAL BITCH spelled on the back) what's going on here. They then starts prancing around on the dancefloor and a few minutes later another three guys buy more girl-shirts. Watching them strutting their stuff a few minutes later I must admit they looked kind a cool those Brutal Welsh Bitches. We salute them, we also must salute Damian and Chris from "Stickman" who taught me all the Welsh I know. 20th Nov Glasgow Yesterday I woke up at 3:30 am picked up Jon and Maxx and arrived at 7:00 pm at King Tut's in Glasgow did the soundcheck, had a very good meal, prepared by Rich and was on stage from 10:30 till 11:30. Spoke to lots of people. Packed up the gear. Bought a bottle of Oban and now we're sitting here at the services near Biggar. Everything is becoming a very smooth blur. We're having rododendron-extract for tobacco and I'm getting closer to fine, it's minus 5 outside. King tut's is a great venue, soundengineer Johnny and rep George were top notch. 21st Nov Bradford Wow this is our fourth time in Rios the venue echoes like fuck during the soundcheck as always but when the room's full most of that is gone. Went for a curry before the gig and met up with our Northern scum chums Will, Tom, Ozzy and, Ian and long time fan Mr. Chris Armitage. In the middle eight bit of Crime&P I burst a string of the Gibson so for the first time ever I'm using the brilliant Bronzi(my other guitar) on stage. The Bronzi is a featherlight compared to the Gibson so it feels like it wants to fly away in the next few songs. Dave Maud from Marshall amps is there to take pictures and make sure we end up in the rock and roll hall of fame that is the Marshall arts magazine, that'll piss my brothers off. Some left over Oban provides a swift kick straight between the eyes after the gig. We spoke to lots of people afterwards, Lindsey and Amy and a whole bunch of their friends. Back To Diaries |
